  1. Nancy was not able to confirm the presence of Ebola while searching into the specimens because of the way the specimens internal organs were reacting. While going through the monkey's interior, she noticed that the monkey's spleen was unusually enlarged. She did also noticed and could not claim that the monkey had Ebola because the specimen was not bleeding internally at all like Nancy imagined. Nancy was looking for signs that could confirm the presence of Ebola in the specimen. She imagined the specimen to have obvious signs that the specimen had Ebola and the body will react to the deadly virus in some way. She did, however, find a sign in the specimen's body that did prove the specimen might have the presence of Ebola when she saw that the monkey had ' a ring of bleeding spots at the junction between the stomach and the small intestine" (Preston 255). When finding this sign of Ebola in the specimen, Nancy started to think she could actually confirm the presence of it but she couldn't confirm that because the bleeding can also just mean simian fever and not Ebola after all. After the testing, she realized that a visual inspection on the specimen was not enough to determine if the presence of Ebola was found in the specimens.

    1. Bryan mentioned a good point at the end about how Nancy realized how she needed more than a visual inspection to find out if the specimen presented a presence of Ebola and that is true because the specimen might just not be responding to the virus and Nancy will not be able to confirm the presence if she does not have some sort of "sign" as Bryan said. There are other diseases and viruses that can have similar signs such as the ring of bleeding spots and that will still not be enough to say that the specimen has Ebola. Further investigations in blood and other research however can give Nancy higher probabilities to find a sign that can definitely prove the presence of Ebola.
